Visualization and reporting solution

Having analytical tools means that you get a lot of data, metrics, and insights that can overwhelm you. When you need to present results or make strategic decisions it is optimal if you can visualize your data. A visualization solution does that for you and it brings your analytics to life. It can help you spot errors, discrepancies, disruptions, or opportunities in your business processes.

Project scope

Project goal:

  • Visualization of analytics
  • Combined data and reporting in one place for visualization that allows filtering by multiple criteria
  • Data accessibility through visualization (data transparency)

Main issues:

  • How to combine multiple data sources in the visualization solution?
  • How to make reporting and visualization simpler?
  • How to enable multiple filtering at once?
  • How to automatically generate visual representations of data and analytics from the web and mobile solutions?

Our approach:

A visualization solution can be developed custom for a certain analytical solution or it can be made in Tableau which gives semi-finished options. Depending on the needs of the user, it can be made custom where graphs, charts, or maps are made to fit certain criteria on looks and feel.

For the Tableau approach, it is much quicker since it uses half-finished visuals and it can combine multiple data criteria and reports in one.

In our case, we used custom and Tableau approaches.

A visualization solution can point out oversights in the supply chain and combine data from Fusion and Mobile Manifest. Where Deegloo answered the project from a web and mobile development standpoint, we took on the data part to bring information to life through visualization. When working in an industry where your supply chain is long and has many links, having a solution that can visualize those steps is important. In supply chains, you generate great amounts of data and it can be daunting to turn it all into graphs, charts, or maps. With visualization, you can plan more in detail and more precisely. Visualization is applicable in dispatch discipline, plant performance, detention tracking, and goods movement from loading to unloading. In dispatch discipline, you can visualize when a certain hauler is called for loading or unloading. You can visualize the distribution or when there are higher intervals of loading and unloading. According to that, dispatchers can organize haulers to spread them out so the waiting time is lower.

Through visualization of plant performance, there is the possibility of finding out when and why are there some standstills, especially in warehouse logistics. It can answer why are some trucks waiting a long time to load or unload and whether it is the plant’s fault or the hauler’s.

For detention tracking, it can visualize when and where did the driver of a certain hauler company make stops or where is he on the route. This visualization solution can keep track of every link in the chain and visually present data so the user can see the distribution of data and their analytics.

  • Visualized analytics all in one place
  • Reduced need for manual visualization
  • It reduces costs
  • Keeps track of the whole supply chain and each segment
  • Easy presentation and reporting
